DEAD POLICE AND SOLDIERS IN HEAPS.
LP'iR UNITED PKESS ASSOCIATION, j Buenos Ayre», July 26 The officers instigated the 10th Regiment to rebel, and the Government have vainly endeavoured to suppress the insurgents. Banks and shops are closed, and business is at a standstill. Desperate fighting has taken place in the streets. The garrison rebelled and Government troops retreated. The President managed to make his escape to Rosario, but the Finance Minister (Garcia) was taken prisoner, and many of the populace killed. July 27. The towns of Buenos Ayres, Santa Fe, and Cordova are in a state of siege. Dr Carlos and Pellegrini, vice-Presidents, are exercising executive power, while President Geleman has gone to the provinces to collect troops, and will attack Buenos Ayres if the rebels are successful. General Campos, who was recently imprisoned for conspiracy, was rescued by the rebels and placed in command. He is supported by the revolutionary Committee, who have issued a manifesto announcing that they are determined to remove Celeman's Government. Sailors are defending Government House with mitrailleuses, and heaps of police and soldiers are lying dead in the streets. It is reported that General Bacedo, Minister of War. has been killed. The rebels repulsed two attacks, and wounded the Chief of the Police. The Government are expecting reinforcements from Lavate. The insurgents are reported to be getting the upper hand. The populace is favourable to the malcontents, the navy neutral, and the military divided. Guatemala, July 26. It is reported that the San Salvadors have been driven out of Guatemala with a loss of 400 killed. The mob is in (possession of Guatemala capital. July 27. A revolution has taken place in Guatemala. The San Salvador troops are advancing. Valparaiso, July 25. The situation in this city is improving. The shops and banks, which were closed for fear of further depredations being committed by the strikers, have beeu reopened. July 26. A thousand of the rioters have been imprisoned, and the city is much quieter.
