A child named Mundy died suddenly last ni^ht As there was tbe possibility of death being accelerated through the child not having sufficient nourishing food in consequence of the poverty of the mother, a Times reporter visitrd the house. He found Mrs Vlnndy living in a house almost destitute of furniture. The dead little one was lying decently covered in one corner of the room, and the widow was much distressed. Sh«» did not herself attribute the child's denth to star ration, but she said sometime! she was short of food for the children. She had no firing in the house till a bag of coal had been tent her that morning. She was not able to buy boo's for the child red. She receives 7s per w<«ek from the Char [' 'Me Ant Board, 4s of which trees in rent S'>e sometimes earns about 4s a month herself, but according to her own statement is almost friendless.
