A Tribute to the Feilding Footballers

« Victorious Feilding Football Club I You well have earned the name, For you have been conquerors brave In many a well-fought game. Aye, on many a famous battle-field The boldest foernen have been awed. When they have seen the tries, the goals, "Which the Feilding boys have scored. Like Trojans of old you've held your ground, And triumphed o'er gallant foes, For many a team of Leather Knights Th6re downfall to you owes. Oh 1 the tamous warriors of the Club ! I cannot name them all ; But shall select four chosen ones — The boldest on the ball. First on the scroll of fame I place The genial Captain, " Bob," Who wins the fear and terror of Each struggling scrimmage mob. Three-quarter Parr claims second place For the countless points he's made ; And surely he may well feel pride, For the winning games he's played. For third I name three-quarter Dyer, Who, in his last great match, Did bravely from the brow of Fame His wreath of laurel snatch. The fourth — young Robinson the Red — A player steady, game ; How often has he kicked a goal, How seldom missed his aim I Now, all you other players, You have an honored name, Among all true admirers Of this noble, manly, game. May your flag still lead to victory Unhumbled by the foe, And head your march triumphant, As through the world you go. Mangaone.
