Daring Burglaries
(per united press association. ) Auckland, June 14. Howden, jeweller's, in Queen street, was broken into on Saturday afternoon and OTer £700 worth of jewellery taken out. On returning on Saturday evening Howden through the window saw a man running from behind the counter. A man named Gilbert caught the man coming out of the back and after a desperate struggle the burglar was arrested with the help of the police. His name is Geo. McLean, a clerk, believed to have come from Sydney. The jewellery was made up in two parcels. Melbourne, July 14. Several extensive burglarie.B have been reported lately.
