Masonic
Last night the ceremony of installing the newly elected officers of the Feilding Masonio Lodge, N.Z.C., marked an important era in the history of the craft in this district, as on that occasion the first officers were placed in office under the new constitution. There was a large attendance of brethren, both of members of the lodge and of visitors, from other parts of the district and colony. The following were the officers installed : — Bro. Edward Smith, W.M.; Bro. Walter L. Bailey, S.W. ; Bro. Hugh L. Sherwill, J.W. ; Bro. J. H. Stevens, Treasurer; Bro. T. W. K. Foster, Secretary ; Bro. H. Worsfold, S.D. ; Bro. Charles Bray (iunr.), J.D. ; Bro. J. C. Morey, 1.G. ; Bro. Gregory, Tyler. Bro Past Master William L. Bailey, the retiring W.M., acted as installing officer. The following composed the Board of Pastmasters, Bro Walkley, R.W.M., Palmerston Kilwinning; Bros Sutton and F. Meyrick, Palmerston Kilwinning ; Bros Perrin and Nathan, Loyal Manawatu, Palmerston ; Bros Bray, Carthew, Wm. L. Bailey, Kirton, Thomson, and Pleasants of the Feilding Lodge. The following members of the Feilding Lodge were also present — Bros A. Porter, J. B. Pybus, J. A. Macdonald, J. Neilson and H. Tremewan. The visiting brethren present were — Bro Jas. Hosking, J.D., 690, N.Z.C. ; Bro F. C. Skipworth, Tongariro, 705, E.C. ; Bro F. E. White ; Bro R. F. Haybittle, 471, 1.0. ; Bro W. Macmillan, 1721, E.C. ; Bro E. Moore, 2059, E.C. The principal ceremony was most impressively performed by Bro Wm. L. Bailey, the installing master, who was ably assisted by P.M. Bro Bray. Bros Past Masters P. Thomson, Carthew, and Pleasants gave the addresses from the East, South and West respectively. Bro P.M. Eirton acted as Master of the Ceremonies. Bros R. F. Haybittle and Norberg supplied the orchestral accompaniments for the hymns, and music for the marches, most efficiently. After the ceremony the brethren retired to the refreshment room where the usual loyal and Masonic toasts were drunk. The proceedings here were '■ necessarily very short as the hall had to be cleared for the ball which followed. Dancing commenced at about nine o'olock and was kept up until an early hour this morning. _^_ __ _ ___^__
