The Feilding Hounds

On Wednesday the hounds of the Eeildingr Hynt Club met at Mr Munro's, iplose to Feilding, and there was a field oif be"tweeri forty and fifty. After the fTisual law had been given for the benefit of the late arrivals, Boake Btarted to draw a paddock kt the rear of Mr Munro's house &nd a good racing hare was soon on foot, which^gave us a smart gallop nearly to Mr J. Gooden's house, here the hounds slightly over ran their line, puss having gone; to form in a gorse fence. Trying back the hare jumped out of the fence in view of the hounds, and a merry little gallop beck, oyer nearly the line, resulted in puss being pulled*aownin r « i tKe open «lose to where^i^^^Hßnd. Thus «nded a y^rj^^^^^^^^^^^of 25 minutes. Fr^^^^^^^^^^^^Hj^ed over '"■ . <>ther^fhare\g^veuߣ^^HPHop, and runintQj& big scrub gully was given up. Afterwards a drag wa s laid from Mr Mc--:>^Ponald'fifc into Feilding oyer a nice hiintiiig country, the fences at the finish being ib% and stiff, bringing a great many down. Amongst the most forward I noticed the huntsman (Ifcoake) Messrs Clissold, Rutherford, McDonald, Harley, French, Stuart, B|&erg, Laing, &c. There are only three inore advertised fixtures for this season, imt I hear we are not likely to close for some time jet, as the Master (Mr lance) >Teceiv«id a letter from Hawera inviting ■£&& hounds up there for a week ; the . grounds will hunt at Wellington on the Monday after the steeplechase ; and I believe he has also had invitations from rj Turakina, Carnarvon, Foxton and Fordell, -There is ameeting on Wednesday evening next, re the Point to Point Steeple ; iphase, when I hope to see a good mustei / «f members, veterans especially.
