Feilding State School

The usual monthly meeting of the comxnittee of the above school was held at the school rooms last evening. Present — F. I T. Lethbridge (chairman), W. Watts (secretary), Morey, Curfcis, Worsfold, Gould «nd Hicks. The minutes of special and ordinary meetings were read and confirmed. The following correspondence was dealt •with : — From the Secretary of the Education Board, calling the attention of the committee to the poor average attendance at the school compared with the number on the roll. (The head-master reported — average attendance for week ending May 17, 1889, 212 ; for week ending May 16, 1890, 232.) From the Secretary of the Education Board, stating the Board were willing to receive a deputation from the committee in re the dismissal of the head-teacher and -first assistant mistress. From the same, notifying that the notices of dismissal of Mr Wilks and Mrs Xiissaman had been withdrawn. Correspondence was also read with reference to the purchase of au acre section adjoining the school grounds for school } v poses. Proposed by Mr "Worsfold, seconded by Mr Curtis, That subscription lists be opened for the purpose of raising the sum of £"20 (the committee's portion of the purchase money) towards purchasing the acre section. — Carried. Proposed by Mr Hicis, seconded by Mr iethbridge, That Mr Wilks and Mrs Lissaman be allowed to remain on at the school, as the school is now working satisfactorily. — Carried. Proposed by Mr Worsfold, seconded by Mr Morey, That tenders be invited for .cleaning the school. — Carried. Mr Watts called attention to the fact that the school-master's residence was xmoccupied. • Proposed by Mr Worsfold, seconded by Mr Hicks, That the chairman notify Mr "Wilks that the committee expect him to occupy the school-master's residence. — ■Carried. The committee then adjourned.
