Unusually large entries of stock came forward at both places for this season of the year, which brought together a large attendance and resulted in spirited bidding iv all classes of stock, and we were glad to see cattle move off at more satisfactory rates. Nearly everything was sold at both sales ■and mostly under the hammer. We •quote following rates. — Cattle — Palmerston North — Fat small, £4 1 2s 6d ; fat cows. £3 9s ; three and four year steere X4 ; two-and-a half-year steers, £S ■•-2s; eighteen-months steers, 345. Bulls — Very forward bullocks, £4 os t< £4 5s 6d; fat cows, £3 Is to £3 12s -6d ; store cows, 32s 6"d to £2 7s 6d eighteen-months steers, 35s to 37i 4 6d ; two-and-a-half to three-yeai <steers, £2 18s 6d.
