A gentleman at Hokianga writes: to a friend there :— " My brother was a few days ago on a vaccination tour, and reports a violent outbreak of leprosy at Herekino amongst the natives* several of whom, died from it. Others are in a fearful state— fingers and toes rotting off ; nose, teeth, and laws corroding, and bodies rotten. He has reported the matter to the Government. The natives are: soared, and avoid each othar^ .
