PALMERSTON v. FEILDING. The following is the team chosen to represent Feilding in the first cup match of the season against Palmerston on Saturday, to be played on the Oval:— Joe Robinson, Parr, Dyer, Robinson, Shannon, Strachan, Harmer, R. Whisker, Keightly, Nicholson, Matraverß, Gregory, lveson, Tennent and J. Whisker. Emergencies, Johnson and Belfit. All the above are requested to keep in active training. Nothing but assiduouspractice will give them the victory on Saturday. The game starts at 3 p.m. sharp. # A meeting of those chosen, and also of the committee, will be held in Donnelley's on Friday night, when the captain particularly requests all to be present.. The following have been selected to represent Palmerston in the match against Feilding : — Full - back, Moore ; threequarters, Jackson, Jewell, and Newth ; halves, Sinclair and Stallard; forwards, Hyland, Hanna, Mowlem, Oliphant, Burton, Mcllbride, Smith, Geertson, and Manning. — Manawatu Times.
The Foneke and Masterton football teams played on Saturday. The Ponekes won by 14 to 3. While the Railway (Wanganui) and Hunterville team's were playing 'for the Junior Cup on Saturday, 1 some rather rough play was indulged in when the play got to close quarters, the result being that the Railway team walked off the field. The referee awarded the match to Hunterville, but gave the Railway team power to appeal io the Wanganui Union. The Wanganui Union having disqualified certain Marton men for playing for a team not belonging to the Union, the Marton. team has decided to withdraw from tho Union altogether.
