The minutes of the previous meefcin. were read and confirmed. ■ . • CORRESPONDENCE. From Glerk Kiwitea Koad Board, sta ting that body did not wish to interfer >vith the Onepuhi bridge. From Arthur Goldfinch, asking thi name of G. B. Jones to. be put on the rol instead of his. From Cook County Council, Gisborne circular re rates from- Crown and Nativi Lands. . ; From ; [chairman ; Rang! fcikei County Council; re Onepuhi bridge. From H. Crichton, Ashurst, re Jamei Weight^ a hushfeller, lying ill across th< river, asking the man to be sent to thi '■'(Order had been sent.) From C. Pharazyn, asking a certaii road line to be Froin-B. Purkiss, member for No. ' ■ward, stating a. meeting of ratepayers hat teen held at Halcombe to consider th< proposal to borrow .£IOOO, when an af firmative resolution in favor of the loai had been passed, Tenders for supply and delivery o: jgravel on the Stan way road opened during the interval; since the previous meet ing, that of D. Sceily was accepted at le lid per yard. . . The Clerk reported that he had apphee to the Government for the additional 10% on the loans for No. 5 andT) wards and letter's consenting were to hand from Treasury, _ Mr Peterson waited on the Board tc task permission to put 3 gates on th« Ulysses and Spur roads. The Chairman said it would have been letter to send in a written application, hut he thought the request would be favorably considered; ' Proposed, by Mr Purkiss, seconded by Mr Lethbridge, That the name of G. B. Jones be placed on the rate roll in place of that of Arthur Goldfinch. — Carried. Proposed jby Mr Pearce, seconded by Mr Lethbridge, That a slaughter license be granted to B. iCr^mewan, of Bunnythprpe, on section 63. — Carried. ; Tenders, for, ystuuiping and clearing Kimbojtpn road were opened, and the sew «rai amounts were looked upon as too high. The tenders, were ordered to be "returned. Proposed by. Mr Pearce, seconded by Mr Lethbridge, That the Engineer be instructed to have about 40 yards of metal put on the, Feiiduyg- Ashurst road and Taonui rtiad.— Carried. . . Proposed by Mr Reeve, seconded by Mr Downes, That tenders be called for the •extension of Watershed road to the boundary of -Mr Hunt's . property, tenders to be in by 'next' monthly meeting. Proposed by Mr "Wheeler,; seconded by Ur Downes,'That the tenders for stumping Kimbolton road be returned as, in the opinion oi this Board they are too high.— Carried. Proposed by Mr Wheeler, seconded by jMfc Purki s, That t c attention of tha :znember for the district be called to the necessity that exists for retaining the lands as. : contributory to the local rreyenue.— Carried. ' The Engineer repbrted on the proposed route T&orangi road. Proposed by Mr Downes, seconded by MrPearce, That the Engineer report on Spur and Forlong's. road on west side of Oroua river. — Carried. Proposed by Mr Reeve, seconded by Mr Downes, That the Engineer be authorised ;tohave metal to the extent of 60 loads put •on where needed on the Feilding-Ashurst xoad in No. 6 ward.— Carried. Proposed by Mr Purkiss, seconded by Mr Wheeler, That the chairman take the necessary steps to acquire the land to construct a road frbm Gillet's line to Onepuhi iridge, and arrange with Messrs Linton «,nd Jones re closing Junction aud Gillet's line running through their properties. — •Carried. Notice was given of the intention to strike a rate of l-16th of Id in No. 5 and *6 ward. ■.._.-.■; The usual accounts for the month, amounting to 4J1097 14s sd, were passed for payment iand the 1 meetihgriadjourned.
