Several conferences have taken place between the masters and the men, at which mutual concessions were made with, regard to the rules drafted by the labourers, but still, however, there were certain points ' on which the masters oould not with 1 dignity give way. The Trades Council ; mediated in the matter, but was not successful in making a satisfactory arrangement. A general meeting of merchants . and traders which will probably result in , the suspension of the shipping trade of , Sydney. This Day. The difficulty between the Seamens* : Union and the Wharf Laborers has been settled. Dunedin, June 9. At a meeting of the Operative Bakers' Union it was decided to send the sum of .£lO to the bakers in Christchurch, and to , make a levy of 2s 6d per week on each : member until the dispute between the bakers and employers there is settled. The Drapers Assistants' Union . have decided to forward £5 for the assistance of the Pitone Woollen Mill employes who- ~ areidle. Auckland, June 9. The Master Ironworkers and-Far-riers'Association have adopted the eight hours system, and have also agreed to a tarifi of prices, to come into operation oa lrtofJuly. - 1'
