Mat Dawson, Mr J, White's trainer, thinks highly of Nepean, Wentworth, and Mons Meg, the colts which will represent the Sydney sportsman in the next Derby, and considers they will hav.e a better chance of winning than either Kirkham or Narellan had. At the Hunt Club Meeting Lady Betty; a Sydney mare, won the Trial Mile. She started at 25 to 1 against. Sydney, June 9. The racehorses Leopold, Dolosa, Fabulous, and Montrose, shipped by the Mararoa from Auckland, have arrived safely. Christchurch, June 9 The following- nominations have bean received for the Grand National Steeplechase, of 400 soys ; about 4 miles.— Oddfellow, Auckland, Daddy Longlejs, Squib, Ahua, Enterprise, G-ladins, Sir Garnet, Trooper, Darnley, 8011-call, The Drover, Little Arthur, Kangaroo, Landsborough, Mangahone, Jenny, Snapshot, Pastime. Donedin, This Day. The Jockey Club have inoreated their stakes at the Spring Meeting, which will extend over three ' days in future, to £8200, and the Autumn Meeting to £8500.
