JS"o thing can well be more pathetic than the circumstances attending the death of Mark Henry Vaal, a casually employed dock labourer in London Mr Wynne ifaxter held an inquest on his body, and it was ascertained from the eridence given that the poor fellow had actually starved himself to feed his children. His widow is ah inmate of the Banstead Lunatic Asylum, so that the four little ones— the eldest j» thirteen and the youngest' ;fpur---are now thrown upon the world. In the last fortnight 'lie managed to get work on three days, and it' was on Thursday, at six o'clock ..in the London Docks, and when he was about td draw his pay, that his ill»nourished Irame gave way. The coroner's jury were ' cpnvin ced tbet. the man had starved himseif that, bis children might be nourished.r
