This concluded the evidence. Mr Samuel did not offer any evidence on behalf of the prisoner, ii The: Coroner then summel up, and the jury re tired at 26 minutes past 4. They re turned into Court at 5.25 with a verdict to tH% effect that the deceased was wilfully murdered, and suspicion rested on the accused. The Coroner declined to accept this, verdict, and instructed the jury that they musl either bring in a verdict of wilful murder n gainst the atoiiscp or au open verdict. The ijury. retired, and on returning the foreman said there was little prospect of tbe jury arriving at a verdict. The Coroner instructed them again to retire and he would re ceive them again to-night.
