On Friday night the total number of those who slept in the shed was 1 68, and the food allowauce was given to 168 on Saturday; on Saturn day night the number who slept it the shed was 159, but on tSunda) rations were served to 200 ; on Sunday night 190 aewpted the sleeping accommodation, and yesterday 178 met received the allowance of bread anc cheese. The name and occupation Oi each recipient hare been recorded but the officials have found it impossible to discriminate between deserving and undeserving applicants The conduct of those using the shec 'has been exemplary, but Messrs.Mexted and Orniiston, the officers wht superintend tlie giving of relief, hav< , drawn the attention of the authoritiei to the increasing number of applicant* V since it became known that daifj : . rations would be servedj and thej '..point out that it is questionable . -whether it is desirable to .contin tit ,v^providing food once a day.. Thii r matter will receive immediate atten- ; and with the probable reeull \. rthat the daily supply of bread aniti . oheese will be discontinued. . ■ . '
