The Feilding Hounds

Through the kind invitation of Mr D. Scott, the above hounds had a real good days sport last Wednesday at Scott's Ferry; ; The hounds and • several mem • bars, went down the night previous and were most hospitably entertained by Mr Scott and family. Early on Wednesday morning (6.80): Mr Roake (on foot) took the hounds out and had some good fun amongst the rabbits, of which there are a good few in some of the big gorse fences round Willow Bank. At eight o'clock, we returned to the house for breakfast. Afterwards Mr Scott took us over his farm to have a look at his brood mares and their progeny, of which he has a nice lot. The next thing to see was Tommy working his horses on the course, he having three in preparation,' viz., Retrenchment, Dingo and the Dream. We then had a walk down to the sea beach ; returning aud partaking of lunch it was now time to prepare for the great event' of the day, viz., our drag hunt. Tom Scott kindly laid. the drag for us over a very nice country, distance about four miles.. There were a goodly number aßßem bled at the meet, on some very aristocratic horses', the foremost in the hunt being Messrs A. Scott on Electric, A, Cameron, Asper ; A. Lovejoy, Dangerous; H. Lance, Flintlock ; J. A'Court, Goth ; T. Scott, JRinga ; J. McDonald, Egotism ; D. Scott (Hall), Delphine ; Daniels, Zulu ; 'D. Fraser (Price), Ridge; Burns, Deacon ; Brookie, Nubian ; T. Cameron, Coquette*; Proctor on a bay horse on his well known hunter Hermit. There were a great many spills, but happily none wer*e serious. Our hunt finished about three o'olock when Mr D. Scott took us to the other side of the river I with his greyhounds to have some coursing, 'where we killed a leash of hares, and had several other good courses, the hares eventually getting into cover. After dinner about twenty of us were entertained by Mr Scott and family, and spent a yery jovial evening,! returning home on Thursday, one and all vowed we had a real good time which was heartily corroborated by Mtles B. Hvndr.
