Abetter day for the Steeplechase Meeting could not have been wished for than was obtained on Saturday. The attend- - ance was good, and the course was in splendid order. Flying Stakes, of 50 soys; 6 furlongs. —Montrose IL, 7-12, 1; Boulanger, 8-0, 2; Eileen, 7-0, 3. Rufus, Lady Ledger, Creeping Jane, Mirabelle, Josephine and Empress started. In the straight MontrOß© came away, and won rather easily. Time, lmin 18seo. Dividends, £8 19s and £8 17s. , Wanganui Steeplechase, of 200 sovs; about 8 miles.—Sir Garnet, 9-13,1; Oddfellow, 11-5, 2; Orient, 10-10, 3. Gladius and Rere ran. Gladius baulked at the second hurdle, but soon made up the lost ground, and led at the water jump. Sir. Garnet then' took command, Gladius falling at tbe hurdle entering the straight. A grand race home resulted! in a length victory for Sir Garnet. Dividends, M3s and £8 lis. Hack Race, of 20 sovs;. 1 mile and a distance.—Pyramus,' 9r5, 1; Jupiter, 8-0, I2; The Peer, 7-5, 8, Pyramus held all safe from the start, .and passed the post fr; length to the good. Dividends, £3 9s and JiS 19s. Winter Oats, of; 100 sovs; '!$■ miles. — Vendor, 6-9,1; Boulanger, 7-11, 2 ; Eileen, 6-4, 8. This was the best race ofthe day. the placed horses being in a bunch all up the straight. Time, 2min 42±sec. Dividend, £6 19s. Maiden Steeplechase, of 70 sovs; 2 miles.—Gaspirini, 11-12, 1: Asper, 12-8, 2. Won easily in 4min 41£sec. Dividend, £l 12s. Ladies' Bracelet, of 60 sovs.—Jenny, 1; Vision, 2; Myrtle, 3. Jenny romped home. Dividend, £1116. Consolation Steeplechase.—Asper, 9-11, 1; Orient, 11-7, 2. Dividend, i*2 15s.
