The Licensing Act

On the New Licensing Bill the Wanganui Herald says :— " iVe think in many cases it might be desirable to lessen the number of licensed houses, therefore let a system of compensation be provided and applied where ai community may so desire. Where the community has to provide compensation for licenses taken away it will not recklessly increase the houses; and so by degrees the number may be reduced in accordance with what may be considered sufficient. What is now proposed is nothing short of confiscation." These are exactly the views we have expressed on the Bubject, and we are pleased to have so powerful an ally as the editor of the Wanganui Herald.
