The Railway Tariff

(PEB UNITED FBBBB ASSOCIATION). C'HHiBTCHUBCH, May 19. At a general meetiug of the Industrial Association held to-night to consider the railway tariff it was unanimously resolved :—•" That in the opinion of this meeting the railways should be so administered as to assist the producers and • the industries of the Colony to a much greater degree that at present, and that with this -view the tariff should should be simplified and very large concessions made on the carriage of the natural -and industrial products of the Colony, •especially those coming from or going to districts at a distance from port." •"That this meeting is of opinion that the policy of cheap railway fares and freights would assist in settling the country, increase its products and stimulate its industries; also, that the Indirect benefit of such policy would compensate for any loss of the railway revenue which might be entailed.
