The Late George Evans
A meeting of gentldmefl interested ire making some provision for the widow ani eight young, children .of the late- Mr George Evans was held last night in Mr* Hastie's Sample Booms. The- Mayejc* Mr Lethbrldge, presided. He explained' the position of Mrs Evans, which snowed that it was absolutely necessary immediate steps should be taken to- put her into* the way of earnwga Uvingforhersetfandfainily, ' • It was then proposed by Mr Korton r seconded by Mr Say well r That efforts be* made to raise a sum of money for th* benefit of the widow and orphans of the* late George Evans.— Carried. Proposed by Mr Prior, seconded by Mr Kirton, That any money raised be placed with Mr Lethbridge and Mr Prior »» trustees for the family. — Carried, At, the suggestion of the chairman the* following gentlemen were elected as- a> committee three to form a quorum i Messrs Sandilands (secretary), Lethbridge, F, Keen, A. R. Curtis, Morey, Br Monckton r • Saywell, Prior, Summers, Eirton r Trhnble r Newman, Pringle r R. Haybittle- r ani Fetch. The committee ihsn held a meeting: when it was ' * Resolved to invite the Feilding^ UramaticClnbto- give a performance in aid of the funds. .'. That subscriptions in iind be iavitedi by advertisement from farmer»and others, such contributious to be forwarded to Mr Trimble's auction rooms,. Feilding, wher» they would be sold by pubhc auction on* the 81st instant and the- casb proceed* handed to the Trustees. That subscription- lists be forwarded to» Mr Conghlin at Bulls. That all subscriptions and contrfbtition* be acknowledged in the Feiuhko Stab. That.the next meeting: of the committees be held at the Hotel Sample Rooms oa Wednesday next at eight p^m. A subgcriptioQ Hst was opened in the room and about was subscribed.
