jLasfc Saturday a good number of kickists rolled up on the Oval for practice, and some real useful work was done. Sides were chosen by Ecightly and Iveson, and two Bpella of 50 minuteß each were played. The game, which was .one of the best and fastest that has been played on the ground, resulted in a win for Iveson's team. I was glad to see W. Watts, an old Feilding player, taking part in the game. On Saturday next what promises to- be an exciting game will take plaoe, the first fifteen having had the hardihood to challenge 22 all comers. The first fifteen, will be chosen from the following : — Robinson (2), Parr, Dyer, Harmer, Strachan, Henry, Gregory, -Whisker (2), Keigbtly, Matravers, Tennent, Iveson, Belfit, Gieson, Hodges and -Collins. The match will start at 8.15 punctually, Messrs Saywell and Booth acting as umpires, with the Bey. Innes- Jones as referee. Fowler is marshalling the forces of the all comers, and has already a strong combination. No players undar "sixteen will be allowed to play in the match. On Saturday last Palmerston met Marton at the latter place, the game resulting in a draw. Several leading Feilding players, who have joined the Martqn Club, took part in the game. I shall have something to say in your next Thursday's issue respecting men playing for clubs otherwise than their 'own. ' One thing I should like to point but, to young players especially, and that is : never dispute the decision of the referee, or question the: awards of the umpires. The gentlemen who fill thead position! are generally old players, and know the game thoroughly. It is a fault with Feilding players that if they are not on the winning side, to growl at everything— the umpires especially.
