Feilding Hounds

-'■' ' . ♦ — ; . The above hounds met on Wednesday laßt at the residence of our popular master, Mr H. Lance, Malvern House, Haloombe. The field was not a large one, there being only about 15 to 20 members present. After being most hospitably entertained, a move was mad* aoross Mr Lance's farm to Mr Eiddiford's property, where our drag started, it being over a splendid bit of hunting country pointing towards Halcombe. After a welcome check near Mr Woodheads house, away we went again, through Mr Qnallip's farm and several other gentlemen's property whose names I do not know. Another check occurred at the top of the Sandon road. During this check a hare jumped out of the gorse fence in view of the hounds, and before Eoake could get forward to stop them they had got on very good terms with the hare, and gave us a nice little gallop, puss eventually getting into the bush, where the hounds were stopped. Trotting back nearly to # Mr Quallip's house, we resumed our drag, which started on the opposite side of the road, and took us over a nice bit {of country right into Haloombe. Thus ended an enjoyable day, but a very hard one for horses and hounds. ' Our heartiest thanks are due to • the many gentlemen whose properties we hunted over, Mr D. G. Riddiford especially, who after we had finished took several of us to his house, and treated us right well, which was very acceptable to . Myles B. Hykde. At the invitation of Mr X>. H. Macarthur, the next meet of the hounds will take place at his residence on Wednesday afternoon next. -
