■: ■' : : : : X*bom ova, own cokbbspondent.) .The 24tb day ?of May- next is to-be &,^ gala day tin Birmingham: An athletic .' ; . sports meeting is to be held on that date and even as I write a meeting e of committee (19) is being held' in Mr Lowes Hotel to arrange programme, elect officers, ap^ portion prizes, &c. I really think the? sports, if the day be fine, will be a success,. * as I believe there is a considerable sum of money already collected^by subscription.. I hope they will make it a success, but I fear that the committee are sadly in need of a good practical leader. The skating rink is quite the fashion now, every Saturday night sees the hall quite roll enough for comfort and too full for safety, as far as [beginners: are; concerned. The Hall Company directors* at m meeting lately, decided to give the use of th* ■ hall free for all Sabbath devotional services. This is a step in the right direc-i 1 tion. .-.".-■- There does not seem to be so much mii terest taken in the "separation of road! f .district -question now. , I suppose (hemeeting 3 to be held on May 2 will practi~ cally settle this Question. .
