Wirth Bros' Colossal Circus
" Mother, the circus is coming." What a pleasure for the youngsters, but as regards the parents pockets it is quite different. However, as far as Feilding. is concerned it cannot make any material difference because it is a long time since we have been favored* with a circus performance. There are circuses and circuses, and according to the reports of the various newspapers throughout New Zealand where this magnificent and complete •circus of the Brothers Wirth has performed theirs holds the premier position. It is somewhat difficult to write a criticism on a circus performance, and as we have had the plaasure of witnessing this one the best advice we can give to our readers is "go and see it." As a rule you hear people say "If you see one circus you see the whole lot." We can say without fear of contradiction that the remark does not apply to Wirth's circus. ' The company is especially strong in the ladies compartment, comprising as it does no less than five equestriennes, who for grace, beauty, skill and daring have never had their equal this side of the line. The company will arrive early on Wednesday, 7th May, and perform in the evening of that date for the one night only near the railway station. The following from the Marlborough Express gives a small idea of the circus : — v The proprietors of Wirth's circus are an enterprising quartet of 1 rothers. They and their sisters were * l born arid brought up," as the sayingyo'S, "under canvas," and have all thwir lives been associated with sawdust and spangles, and they are therefore particularly welL qualified to conduct a business of this kind. The brothers divide the work among them, and each is proficient in every branch of it, from check taking to bare back riding, or cornet playing. The members of the family are in fact all members of the Company.
