A Couple of Wonderful Aztecs

Last, but but by no means least, come the Aztecs, Maximo and Bartolo. Of these two strange people much has been written and said during the past thirty-nine years, and scientists, of <every ohade have taken a hand at the problem which is to solve their origin. The man is now fifty.Beyen years old, And the woman close upon fifty ; at least this is as near to their age as it is possible to come, though, truth to tell, they have changed not a whit in all these years ; their hair is just as black, their eyes just as bright as ia 1850 when they were first brought to Europe. They were then supposed to be aged reßpecti/ely eighteen and ten, but it is quite within the bounds of possibility that they were fiftyseven and fifty even then. . It is stated that they were found in the wonderful oity of Iximaya, in Central America, and that they are really specimens of the ancient race of Jkztecs, the sunworshippinfr pagans ifho built the splendid cities, whose ruins are still to be found in various parts of the .two American continents. Whatever is the truth about them they are a highly interesting couple. Their genuineness has never been disproved, even though by many it has been doubted- They live with their old friend, Mrs Marsh, who has had the c*™ °* them for a number of years, and to whom they look with ail the affection 'they are capable for •verytfaing they need— The School Newspaper. .
