London (Secretary of the Railway Servants Society) who said the first grievance, the men had was non-payment of board and lodging allowance which used to be paid at one time, and- the men felt its loss all the. more as tiie. clerks, inspectors, foremen, &c.,.got £rom'7s 6d to 10s per night travelling allowance. They also objected to the employment of s0 many lads at the Wellington section, 75 per cent, of the traffic hands on the platform were lads of from 16 to 19. In consequence men were leaving. Guards complained they had to work 13$ hours per day, and some engine drivers were on duty 18 hours at a stretch. ■'..,.. . . .'. ...■■■:
