FEILDING EASTER MEETING. The weather was everything that could be desired yesterday by the keenest lover of sport. A cool breeze was blowing from tbe south-east which, although it smartened up sometimes into a small gale, did not interfere with the racing although it was trying occasionally to the ladies on the crest of the hill overlooking the course. The attendance wag very good, very nearly 1000 persona having paid at the gates so that the purchasers of the various privileges got. all their money .back with a margin for encouragement. Taking the racing all through, although the fields were painfully small, it was very good, the finishes being very close, which latter fact testified to the excellent work of Mr J. E. Henry, the handicapper. The only fault to be found was the weary interval between each race, and the consequent want of punctuality iii starting the several events. Of course the club benefitted by the extra time thus given to the totalisator to collect revenue, but still it is possible to go to extremes even in that, and the. general bad temper which .prevailed in the latter part of , the day may be ih. a great measure attributed to this cause. There was more fighting and. scuffling at this meeting than any yet held in Feilding. The Feilding Brass Band,, under the leadership of Mr R: F. Haybittle, played a selection of pieces during the day 1 ' and assisted very materially in relieving the. dreadful jmonotpny of • the There was "only one slight accident by which Jackson, the rider of Kissing Cup in the Winter Oats, was slightly injured in one of his legs by contact with a post. The total amount put through the.machine was £2754, The following are theresuits : — Hack Hurdle Race, of 30 soys; second horse to receive 5 sovs.;, 2. miles., . „ 70 Mr M.Cbkinafl's'b g Otairi, b-7 (Owner) 1 50 Mr E.
