(JTSS PBESB AB3OCIATION.) Chbistchubch, April 2. I The Lyttelton correspondent of the- ' ; r Times tells what he. says he is assured is. the true story of Jonathan Eoberts' reported capture. He states that a boy named Button recognised Boberfs in * f dancing saloon in Sydney, and wroie and i told a friend in New Zealand, who iniformed the police. The Sydney polioe^^ were -communicated with, and the suspected man arrested. He strongly denied being Eoberts, and said his name wasNewman, and that he had been in the Lyttelton Artillery, and could be identified by Captain Bose. ' The Sydney police^ . had a photograph of Eoberts, but itVwas taken ten years ago, and did not resemble the. man arrested. He was then released,. ■ and the Lytteltpn police informed' of the .- fact. On enquiry of Captains • Eose anck ' Mclntyre, of the Lyttelton Volunteer it was found that no one named Newinarfr l ~' had belonged to their corps. It is believed! in Lytteltpn that the man arresited; ira& :^ Eoberts. • :
