Thompson v. Wanganui Herald

CHANGE OF VENUE. (per United PRBBB association). / Auckland, March 28. At the Supreme Court in Chambers today, an interesting legal argument was heard -re the action, Thompson v. The Wanganui Herald Company. Mr Hesketh moyed for a summons to show cause why the place of trial should not be changed, and the writ set aside. The action is one for alleged libel, arising out of a statement of claim in the suit Corrie y. Thompson,' the amount of damages claimed being £1000. Mr Cooper op» posed the, application/which was dis missed, Judge Connoly holding that Wanganui would be a Very improper place to try an action for libel brought against the Wahganui Herald, also mat there was no greater inconvenience m the aotion being tried in Auckland than at any other place than' Wanganui.
