McLEAN v. MATTERSON.

EASY VICTOBY FOE McLEAN. Sydkey, March 28 There was i fine weather/ and the water waß very smooth to-day for the sculling match between McLean and Matterson. The former won the toss, and chose the southern shore. The betting was 2 and 3 to 1 on Majterson, but little inclination was evinced to do business at those figures. A splendid start was effected, Matterson going off with, the lead, and for a time was half a length in front. ByUhrs Point McLean spurted, and , obtained a slight advantage; rowing 3S to the minute. Coming to the mile beacon McLean was four lengths ahead, and after this he sailed away with ease, and the race was practically over. Matterson appeared to have nothing left in him, and rowed very weakly. McLean eventually won by 20 lengths in 22min 40sec.
