Heating at Birmingham

Pursuant to notice a meeting of Apiti ratepayers was. held at Birmingham in the Public Hall on Saturday last. About twenty persons were present from, the U jper district. Mr Fowler was then elected in his place. Money to meet certain expenses incurred was coUected those present, and in that connection Mr Fanthorpe asked the Chairman if the new Board would make a refund to them, because it seemed hard: that a willing few should bear all the brunt. . . Mr Boggis was understood to say that it was impossible for him to answer for what the new Board might do, but the claim appeared to him a just one, and would, no be favorably considered at the proper, time. : A vote of thanks to the Chairman terminated the proceedings.-
