(FROM A COBBBSPOKDBNT.) : A meeting of Birmingham, Apiti, anoT Peinberton settlers was held at Lowes* • Hotel last Saturday, to consider the question of separation from the Kiwitea Boad District. .. : >» . Mr Boggis was voted to the ohair, and explained the object of the meeting. Mr Stent , said it had been agreed tohave a meeting to discuss the 'separation. - question. They had been up there now four years and had no roads yet. If they separated from the Xi vitei Road Board they could borrow the money, and haver their main road formed witiiin two years. Mr Lowe thought they would have i»~~ get the signatures of two thirds of the ratepayers throughout the Kiwitea Road Board district to the petition. The Kiwitea Boad Board must have a voice iff drawing the boundary line*. . • /. Mr Peinberton moved a resolution is favour of separation, and the motion was seconded by Mr Clark and carried. Mr B. McKenzie said what they wanted was a good road, and others present endorsed this statement. . Mr Moore said if it was necessary to canass the district for signatured be did not think people in other parts of the district, who had roads, would withhold their signatures. - After some further discussion it 'was resolved, That a committee be appointed,, consisting of Messrs Palmer and. Moore from the Apiti, Messrs Hoel^e and Boggis from the Birmingham, and Messrs Peniberton and Harris from the Pember^ ton blocks, to consider and arrange the best means for obtaining separation, and reporc to a general meeting. It was also resolved that Mr Homer r the member for the ward, should be asked ;to act with the elected eommikfceev. \ The meeting then adjourned. -
