Forty thousand bales were carried forward to the seoond series, which open on the 10th April, and will be limited to 400,000 bales. The total quantity of wheat and flour afloat for the United Kingdom is 2,264, - 000 quarters, and for the Continent 468,000 quarters. The American visible supply of wheat is 30,125,000 bushels. February. At the wool sales to-day, there was keen competition, and prices had an upward tendency. At the sale of butter by the s.s. Cuzco choice butter brought from 100s to 105s ; medium quality, 78s. The shipment by the Cobden from New Plymouth and the Camden and Anchor Factories arrived m splendid condition. Some of the parcels from the Auckland Dairy Association has a fishy taste. New Zealand mutton is quoted at 4|d ; Sydney 4sd ,* Rockhampton, 4d ; some of the latter are stained and all are misshapen, owing* to the carelessness displayed in freezing; many of the sheep were old and of irregular size and quality. Smaller carcases of more even quality were of equal yalue:* River Plate and New Zealand beef, hind- quarters, 4£d; fore-quarters, 3jd ; Queensland, hindquarters, 4 Jd. New Zealand cheese, 48s. Best quality New Zealand butter, 70s. Sydney, February 20. At the wool sales 2000 bales were offered. Medium greasy brought 9sd. crossbred, 9|d ; average, washed. Is l£d ; good, Bcoured, Is 7d.
