Freezing Companies
As the following extract from, the Woodville Examiner is of considerable local importance, and at the same time confirms the opinion we have held for some time, we publish it, but without comment: — " A rumour has been circulated on the West Coast, that Nelson Bros, wish to buy out the Longburn Company. This. is contrary to fact, and as we have the best information ut our disposal we are prepared to contradict the rumour. The facts are these : — One or two of the Directors had doubts as to the success ofthe concern, and thought tbe best way out of it would be to get Nelson Bros, to take it over One of tbe Directors wrote to Nelson Bros, making the proposal but that firm at once declined the offer. Their reasons were these : They considered the capital qf the Company i's not half that required to make the venture a success and they are not satisfied with the proposed plans of tho works. This experienced firm will only deal with works astablisherl by themselves, as they have mastered all the .peculiarities of construction necessary to make the venture a success. We are not publishing this out of any antagonism to the venture, but a great many people in the Pahiatua district have taken up shares in the company, and it i.s only fair to them that they shoidd know how the matter stands."
