Accidents and Fatalities
Chkistchtjrch, February 11. The body of fticholl, mghtwatohman to the Lyttelton Harbour Board, was found this afternoon washed upon the rocks under the breastwork, sixty yards from where his lantern was found yesterday. His coat was off, but his hat was still on his head. His watch had stopped at seven minutes paßt throe. Ddnbdin, February 12. A two-year-old son of Geo. Taylor, of Lawrence, died yesterday through a biscuit sticking in his windpipe, producing • suffocation. Tracheotomy was performed but the child died during the operation. Napier, February 12. Mr Dick, a well-known solicitor, formerly of Dunediu, and son of Mr Thomas Dick, of that city,* was drowned on Petane Beach to day. He had spent the uight at Petane, and this morning started to walk to town, taking with him a towel, and announced his intention to bathe on the way. A search was . made, and Mr Dick's dead body was found on the beach.
