Famous Prize Bull
The following paragraph from the London Live Stock Journal, should be of interest to- breeders ou the coast : —We give j» portrait of the Shorthorn bull Riby l Fitz- David 51,978, bred by Mr W. Talbot Crosbie, Ardfert Abbey, Ireland, and purchased at a high price last spring by Mr W.T. Wdkams, Te Aute, New Zealand. He had' been successfully used m the celebrated herd at Ardfert, and also Mr Watt's choice herd at Ciaragh. Ramelton, county Donegal, where he was hired at tbe high figure of lOOgs, per season for two years. One of his bull calves, ban Remo, took first prize in the two-year-old class at the Royal Dublin Society's Show this year. Riby Fitz-David inherits all the good qualities of tbe famous .Ribv family. He has a good masculine head •while with hiu rich roan coat of soft hair, his handling is very fine. -'He has also the wonderful back and loins which were characteristic of the famous Te Aute bull Riby Knight. He is. own brother to Riby King, for which Mr Crosbie refused 500 gs. as a two*year-old. His dam, Biby -Marchioness, was brought at the late Mr Terr's sale at Aylesby for 1,260 gs.* She was by Knight of the Shire, the aire of nearly all tho'bighest-pnped cattle at Mr '^rr's sale lntluding Riby Knight. • Rib-V King David's sire, King David 43 417. ■■b'&fi- atVWtfwiaby, was by the noted bull 'Kib'g^ames 28,97 1 , dam ' Marchioness "by " J Royal Benedict 27,348. «and\d»m Maig4reti ?? by.
