Feilding Football Club
•— - A special general meeting of the above was held at the Empire Hotel on; Tuesday night. Mr Kirton; presided, and after stating the'-objects of the meeting, read a letter containing the resignation of the secretary, Mr J. E, Etenry... In moving <that the resignation be accepted, Mr KirUem spoke in the highest terms of praise of the good service Mr Henry had done the club both as secretary and as player. The motion was seconded by Mr Fowler, . who also spoke in flattering terms ■of the retiring secretary. The -resolution, with the addition that a cordial vote of thanks be accorded to Mr Henry, was then put and earned unanimously, ;. It was proposed by Mr Gregory, secofidfed by Mr Fowler, That Mr Straehan beeleeted secretary for the ensiling term, an& carried unanimously. The secretary then read the balance sheet, which showed receipts £BQ 5s 9d ; expenditure, £22 2s 8d; balance in bank, .£l4 '8s Id. This was adopted on the motion of Mr Lang, seconded by Mr Gregory. The secretary stated there were 71 menbers in the club, all of whose subscriptions were regularly paid. The question of sending a team to play in Wellington and the Wairarapa ; was # then discussed, and after the subject had * been fully ventilated, it was proposed by Mr Fowler, and seconded by Mr Gregory, That a committee be appointed consisting of Messrs Gregory, Say well, R. Whisker, A. Parr, Fowler, Dyer, F. Y. Lethbridge and Booth, with power to add to their number, to make all necessary arrangements in connection with the proposed visit to Wellington and Wairarapa.—Carried. .. , -l " Mr Henry then rose and said he desired to thank the members for the good will they had expressed towards him. He bad -endeavoured to do his duty and make the club a succes, but he could not have done so unless he had received the loyal and hearty support of the other members. - Mr Strachan thanked the meeting for the honor they had done him in electing Jhim as secretary. He assured them he ' would do his best to earn their confidence, and no effort would be spared by him to assist the members in keeping the club in its present efficient state. The usual vote of thanks to the chair terminated the proceedings. Afterwards the committe held a meeting «nd a quantity of preliminary work was £one through.
