Wool Markets
By Electric Telegraph. — Copyright (per united press association.) London, January 29. The first .of this year's series of vrool sales began today. The catalogue comprised 5600 bales. There was a full attendance and good bidding. Good Australian merino and cross breds are unchanged, but firm ; inferior sorts 5 per cent lower. Thisecond series will begin after Easter. January 30. Wool is unchanged. At the sale to-day there was spirited competition, 12,000 bales being offered. Sydney, January 30At the wool sales to-day 1600 bale* were offered and 1200 sold. I * ierior to good greasy realised 7£d to lO&d ; inferior to medium washed, ls l£d to ls. 2£d; average to good scoured, ls s_-d to Is Bsd. Invbroaroill, January 30. The second series of wool sales today attracted a large attendance of 1 foreign buyers, and bidding for crossbred wools was spirited. Merinos -were neglected, but on the whole prices were equal to those reported at the recent colonial sales. Light greasy •crossbred showed £d to £d better than last sales; heavy and irregular, a slight decline.
