Kiwitea Road Board

The ordinary monthly- meeting of the sboye was "held on. Saturday last. Present — Messrs Taylor (chairman), Williamson, Lucas, Haythorne,- Shannpn, Reid. Homer, Fowles and Mills.. . The minutes of the last ordinary meeting were read arid confirmed. . COEBESPONDENCE. From J. McColl, stating he had made an error in his tender for Main Cross road. From J. Bryce, re " Bryce's "road. From J v Stent, applying for renewal of •slaughterhouse license. ... ■ . . , _ ; From N- D'Ahvers, re expending deferred thirds. • • From F. O'Leary, stating that he could not take up the Oroua Valley road contract at contract price. From H. S. Munro, enclosing account for bushfelling ; also asking permission to cut grass seed jon the Otamakapua Main road. : From J. McColl, asking for extension of time to complete his contract. From J. S. Clarke, re a* dangerous piece of road on bridle track leading to hi 3 section. - From J. Reid, applying for payment for falling bush on roadline. : From J. Viles, applying to have the names of J. Viles and W. F. Viles put on the rate roll for sections 203 and 204 instead of his own. From C. Nelson, asking that a track be made to section 43, block. Wanganui. From Manchester Road Board, re Cheltenham Cross road. From Treasury, stating that jGIOOO had been placed to the credit of the Board. From Commissioner of Crown Lands, applying for certain schedules. From C. London, applying for payment for bushfelling. Proposed by Mr Taylor, seconded by Mr Williamson, That the application of Mr Viles. re transfer of names on rate roll be granted. — Carried. Proposed by Mr Shannon, seconded by Mr Williamsoa, That Mr Shannon's action re selling grass seed to Mr Mason on roadline be agreed to. — Carried. Proposed by Mr Lucas, seconded by Mr Williamson, That the Chairman be appointed delegate to attend the Hospital Board meeting ; at . Palmerston North.— Carried. Proposed by Mr Homer, seconded by Mr Fowles, That unless O'Leary commences at once with his contract on the Mangaone road and Williamson's road East, fresh tenders be called, he forfeiting hiß deposit. — Carried. • ■ '. . McColl, being difference in contract for making part of Main Cross road as the difference was caused by a mistake in adding up. the total. — Carried. Proposed by Mr Homer* seconded by Mr Haythorne, That warden Homer be empowered to let the right of cutting grass seed along the Otamakapua Main Track, and other roads in the ward, in lots to be determined by him.— Carried. Proposed by Mr Homer, seconded by Mr Reid,. That a renewed slaughtering license be granted to Mr Stent ; That an extension of time be granted to J. McColl as requested. — Carried. . Proposed by Mr Lucas, seconded by Mr Taylor, That tenders to be in in a fortnight be called for metalling 40 chains on Pollock's road, 40 chains on Zigzag road, metal to be spread by road men, to be accepted by Engineer and warden.—Carried. Proposed by Mr Homer, seconded by Mr Haythorne, That owing to F. O'Leary throwing up the contract on the Oroua Valley road he forfeits his deposit and the next tender be. accepted as agreed to by the chairman and Mr Fowles, the work to be carried out as far as the .£2OO will admit.— Carried. • ' Proposed by Mr Lucas, seconded by Mr Taylor, That the application of J. Reid, pit £A 148 6d for bushfelling be granted.— Carried. Proposed by Mr Reid, seconded by Mr Taylor, That the Engineer be empowered toleend to the Government Department the plan of the Sandon Small Farm, to be marked with chainage and bearings.— Carried. Proposed by Mr Lucas, seconded by Mr Fowles, That the advertisements which are required for the Foxton Special Settlement loan be advertised in the Feilding Stab, and that a post card be sent to ratepayers. — Carried. Proposed by Mr Shannon, seconded by Mr Williamson, That- the Commissioner of Crown Lands be informed that the road cleared by the Government at the commencement of the Waitapu ward has been' stopped by Mr McLaren, who purchased from the Government the cemetery reserve which the road runs through and if Mr McLaren insists on stopping the road' it wfll be impossible for anyone residing on that road to get into their sections, die Board wish to know what is to be done in the matter, also, if the-ireserves n the Waituna Valley road have been Uftzetted for public purposes.— Carried.
