Birmingham

The rapid strides being made in the way of settlement in this district is emphasised by the fact that early in February Messrs F. R. Jackson and Co. will hold the first sale of stock yet held in the rising township of Birmingham. It is but a few months ago, apparently, since the Birmingham Small Farm Settlement was first projected, yet already it has made a name in the colony for advancement and general prosperity. We have every confidence that the success of this initiatory sale will more than justify the enterprise of the auctioneers, and that the settlers around about will reap all the advantages of this additional facility for disposing of their stock. We understand that special arrangements will be made jrith Mr Datv's line of coaches for the convenience of persons desirous of attending this sale.
