The ordinary monthly meeting of the above Boar 3 was hied on Saturday afternoon last. . Present— Messrs Macarthur (chairman), Purkiss, Pearce, Wheeler* and Beeve. The minutes of the previoiw ordinary meeting were; read and confirmed* The following correspondence was read: — .. From Betche, B. Douglas, and H, Adsett, respectively, re changer of names oa rate roll. From G. Wheeler, re date of Board's meeting." From Railway Department, with per^ mit for the Board's Banger to impound' cattle grazing on line. From saute, ne cattle grazing on line; From C. Parsons, re felling road line. From W»A. Sandilands, re signatures obtained for deviation of Watershed road. From same,- 'with agreamant between Colonists Land and Loan Corporation. leseeS' and the Board for seal and. signature.- ' ' ; ■ ■ ; From General Survey Office, re tracings* of Ashurst-Bunnythorpe road. From same, re- declaring portions of railway reserve a public road. From same, re gazetting railway reserve a road. .: From- Clerk Kiwitea Boad Board, repayment of 12s. 2d for felling road line from Taonni road* to Oroua river. From Property Tax Office, re voucher for £2,70 subsidy due to the Board. From J. Hr Taylor, applying for renewal of slaughtering license. From J, Slipper, re payment for acting as returning officer for poll for loan for No 5 ward. • Proposed by Mr Wheeler, seconded by Mr Beeve, That the seal of the Board be* affixed to the agreement between the Colonists Land and Loan Corporation and Samuel Coker, Thomas Coker, Henry Coker , Johann Thessman, Jonathan Wil* liam Brown, and Albert Bull, Jens Petersen, Thomas Thompson, B. G. Knight, E;f Gladstone, F. Thompson, R. Nicol and' Charles Hunt and the inhabitants of the Manchester Boad District and that Messrs-. Wheeler and Pearse affix the seal of the Board and sign for the Board. — Carried. Proposed by Mr Beeve, seconded by Mr Wheeler, That as the matter of the Cheltenham Cross Boad has, at the instance of the Kiwitea Boad Board, beeri referred to a commission, the Board doesnot consider it desirable to anticipate or interfere with the report of the Commission. — Carried. Proposed by Mr Beeve, seconded by Mr Pearce, That C. and J. Parsons bd informed that they may fell the bnah on the west end of Waitnna road, section 30 r Block F, on the Board's usual, terms. — Carried. Proposed by Mr Purkiss, seconded by Mr Wheeler, That the chairman take the; necessary steps to raise a loan of £100$ for the construction of works in No % ward. — Carried. [The works were detailed in the resolution and will be advertised.} Proposed by Mr Purkiss, seconded ( by Mr Beeve, That Mr B. Douglas's namebe placed on the roll for part section. 5 r sub G, in place of A. Goldfinch ; that of E. W. Collings for section 22, sub 7 in place of H. Adsett ; and that of 0. Betche for section 8 sub, Halcombe, in place of T. Thessman. — Carried. • Proposed by Mr Beeve, seconded by Mr Pearce, That slaughter house licenses be granted to J. H. Taylor, Makino road* and E. B. Bumble, Ashurat.— -Carried. Proposed by Mr Wheeler, seconded by Mr Purkiss, That the slaughter license for the current year be one potfnd sterling,and that Mr Bray be appointed slaughter house inspector, retaining the fees for hi* trouble. — Carried. Proposed by Mr Macarthur, seconded by Mr Wheeler, That this Board protestsmost strongly against the expenditurenow being made on the pier of the Onepnhi Bridge, as in the opinion of this Board's Engineer the piles now being: driven will have no other hold fcbari the loose gravel drifted into the site of the pier during the past winter, and that nb> work will be safe which does not provider for the piles having a secure hold in the papa rock, a result which would certainly have been attained had not the boringworks initiated by the Board in conjunction with the Bangitikei ; County Council been stopped by the Bangitikei Council without consulting this Board, and further this Board declines to recognise any liability for a share in the eest of work carried on against its earnest protest, and in defiance of the opinion of this Board's Engineer; This Board i» also of opinion: that it would be far wiser to take adyan- . tage of the Amended Psblitf Works Act of last session, clause 15, enabling the local bodies interested to raise a loan for purposes similar to the repair of Onepuhi Bridge, and put in cylinders at oriceinstead of frittering away money in repairs liable to be washed away by the first heavy flood. — Carried. Proposed by Mr Wheeler, seconded by Mr Purkiss, That the dog tax for the present'year be tb.fr same as. last year, viz. r 5s for sheep and Cattle dogs, and 10s for : all other dogs, and that M* Bray b* appointed Collector on the same terms as before, and. the- collection office be ther toll-gate, Ashnrst.^Carried. Tenders for works as advertised werefc , then opened. Proposed by Mr Wheeler, seconded by Mr Beeve, That Kavannagh's tender for Forlong's road and Wilson's line, Younger and Laing/s for supply of metal on Pqhangina road, and McMillan's for supply of metal on Bunnythorpe road be accepted.—Carried. Proposed by Mr Macartbnr, seconded, by Mr Beeve, That the Chairman and Messrs Lethbridge and Pearce, two t& be) a quorum, be a Committee to open and deal with tenders for works in Ne\ 5 ward, tenders to be within, a fortnight from- date.— Carried. - Proposed by Mr Macarthur, seconded by Mr Pearce, That the Chairman take the necessary steps to raise a loan for the- ? | construction of Forlong'a road and Spur road, between the Orooa river and Makino road, under the Government Loans, to Local Bodies Act. — Carried.
