By a fire Opukerataki, nearWaikouaiti, Savina, Louisa and Madeline Ash well, a halt, caste, .mother, and her two children, were burnt to death on Tuesday. George Ash well, .the father of the family,"* wits broughtinto the Dunedin Hospital severely burned and has since died from his injuries. At the inquest on the Ash well family, a verdict of acciden dally burned was returned. It appeared that Mr Ash well,' sen., and his wife got out oithe but and rushed into the building to rescue the children. The wife was suffocated, and the body carried out by the husband, who was fearfully burned. George Ashwell, a boy, saved .his younger sister by pimping out of the window with.he r.
