The Wool Market
(PEB UNITED PRESS ASSOCIATION) Invercargill, December 28. The first wool sale of the season was -held on the 28th, Competition was "not so keen as was expected, although-there was a fair attendance" of buyers. About" 4oo bales were submitted, of which fully one-third* was passed in. The bidding was very irregular, and the recent rise was not upheld. Prices ranged as follows : — Merino, 8&d to IOd ;' crossbreds, B£d to 10£ d; halfbreds, 10£ d' to ll£d; and pieces up to 7£d; scoured, firfat combing, up to Is 6d.
The second wool Sale of the season was held yesterday forenoon at the new stores -aof the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile *^>mpany m Featherston. A large catalogue, consisting of over 1100 bales, was submitted, arid .about 900 bales were sold at prices ranging from 6d to 10^d per lb. The bidding for faulty lots was not brisk,, but well conditioned parcels elicited excellent competition. The bulk of tbe wool sold was purchased by English buyers The third saie will be held in about three weeks. ■-'' .
