The Puhipuhi Reefs

By the steamer Wellington, Mi Wilson, Mining Inspector jfor tht Thames district, who was commisaioned'by the Government to report upon the Puhipuhi silver discovery, returned to Auckland to-day from Whangarei. While at Puhipuhi Mr Wilson went over the prospector's claim, and inspected a great number of reefs. He selected six cwt of stone whlsh he "brought to -Auckland, and has since sent to the Thames for treatment at the school of Mines. Considerable importance will attach to ~£his test, as being from stone selected uy an independent expert. A prospector has discovered a piece of rich gold-bearing stone at the Puhipuhi field, a mile from the prospector's claim, and taken from a reef in the river.
