In the Assembly this afternoon, Mr Dibbs, leader of tha Opposition, gave notice of his intention to, move on Tuesday next, that the Atstmbly is of opinion that the Government have failed. tocarry out their pledges with regard to the financial policy, and that an immediate revision, of the tariff is necessary with the view to the imposition of duties of a protectiye character. The premier intimated that the Government accepted the motion as one of want of confidence, and the Assembly immediate adjourned.
The Attorney -General, after hearing the Magistrate's explanation, has declined to take any further action in the case of Thomas the defaulting teller of the Bank New Zealand, who was sentenced to six months imprisonment on Tuesday.
