The area is covered generally with forest of tawa, rirnu, &c. ; there is totara on some of the sections, and also a considerable amount of light bush or scrub. The soil is mostly of good quality, and the block should when cleared he . well suited for agricultural and pastoral purposes. The access is by the Tainui Zigzag lines and the Oroua River-bed. The Wanganui Harbor Board is now engaged in doing some bushwork and track formation on Pollock's and Awa Roads. Applications for the deferred-payment sections will be received at this Office on Wednesday, the 27th NOVEMBER, 1889, up to 4.30 p.m. In cases of contested sections, applicants will be informed, in order that they may forward tenders, which will be opened" on Thursday, 28th November 1889. If personal attendance is not possible, agents shoxild be appointed in order that tenders may be received before that date. Complete addresses must m all cases be given. CONDITIONS. With the applications for deferred-pay-ment sections one-twentieth of the up-set price, aud LI Is license fee must be paid in cash, or by post office order, bank draft or marked cheque ; -the balance of the purchase money in half-yearly instalments extending over 10 years. Where more applications than one are made on the same day for the same land, the land applied for shall be put up to public competition by tender limited to the applicants. If there be only one. tenderer for, any allotment he shall be en titled to the land at the upset price, notwithstanding that his tender may have been for a a higher price. J. W. A.
