In our correspondence column the Rev. Father Patterson makes an appeal on behalf of the widow and orphans of the late Edward Slatiery killed some few weeks ago when bush felling in this district. A considerable sum has ..already been raised in Palmerston North for the purchase of a house and land, but about twenty pounds are yet required to pay certain' debts and expenses which were necessarily connected with the affair. We wiil be glad to receive and aeknowlege any sums the charitably disposed are good enough to forward us in so deserving a case.
