Messrs F/W. Williams and Kettle have received the following report on the market for New Zealaud flax

from their Loudon Agent, under date

the. 2oth of September :— Beyond the importation of hemp and tow, re* f erred to in detail in my last report, I

have to-day to notify the further arrivals during "the past ten days of Alastor with 510 hales, aud the Pleiades with 1100 bales of hemp. These more recent arrivals added ti> those yet unlanded (sioce the 6th instant),' give a total of 5853 bales of hemp, and 105 bales of tow yet to be •disposed of. .Some considerable part <tt the above is supposed to have been placed before arrival.. Anyway a large quantity of "recent arrivals has jet to be brought on our market. To meet the more pressing demands for immediate delivery our market {under the influence of rather higher quotations both by Manila and Mauri tius hemp) has been very firm, aud rather better prices have been obtaioed for fully good fair to good,

-which descriptions, at £29 10s and £31, show "a temporary adaance of 10s'

to 15s per t->n. Fine WVliHg* 011 hemp, well-dressed, has been sold during the past ten days at £34 15s ; good fair to good £29 10s to £31; , medium, £26 10s to £28 ; whilst very low and ordinary have been sold at £20 to £20 5s per ton. . Tow is still neglected, and only saleable at freight value.
