The funeral of the late E. S. Widdop took place at 10 this morning. The procession over a quarter of a mile in length. Mr James states that the unfortunate gentleman was not more than 20 minutes iu the water, and had the support of an oar part of that time. Chkistchchch, November 9.
By the Penguin to-night, a consignment of highly pure-bred Lincoln rams and ewes are despatched to G. V. Shannon purchased them from Henry Overton's stud flock.
There are now 407 employes of the Kaiapoi Clothing Factory out «jn strike, the weekly wages hands left off on Satur day. only 10 remaining. In the first strike pay was issued to-day. About 40 new hands accepted employment to-day. These and others remaining at the works were hooted by immense crowds on leaving this morning and evening.

Intelligence comes from Samoa that the Enjrhfh barque Flying Yenus.struok on a hidden rock in the vicinity of Penrhyn Island on the 6th September, and became a total wreck. The crew of eighteen and four passengers embarked in the ship's boats and reuohed the Is-: land Manahiki on the 7th. October, and afterward went to Upolu. The FJying Venus was owned aud commanded by Mr J. Kerr.
